For years I used a Forrest combination blade for most everything on my table saw. As my business has grown I've realized that when milling hardwood stock from boards in the rough, a ripping blade like this really does make a huge difference (and it saves your expensive combination blade for other tasks at which it excels). It doesn't leave a particularly smooth surface, so jointing or heavy sanding of the cut edge will be required. But, there is almost never any burning and the effort to push your board through is about half that required by a combination blade. The kerf is a bit thinner so you need to account for that if you use this when dimensioning.
I've been using this blade (with a stabilizer) for more than a year and it's still going strong - very happy with it.
